Granja do Ulmeiro
Located at an important railway junction on the Northern Line, the parish of Granja do Ulmeiro covers an area of 5 square kilometres and has a population of around 1669 inhabitants.
According to Santos Rocha, who carried out archaeological excavations at the site, there was already a settlement there in Roman times.
Its name derives from the fact that it was an important farm/ranch belonging to the Order of Christ, associated with the existence of a forest cover where the Ulmeiro tree predominated. Having belonged to various municipalities (Santo Varão, Montemor), it was definitively transferred to the municipality of Soure on 29 May 1880.
We can't dissociate the growth that this parish has experienced since the appearance of the railway at the end of the last century, which took many of its inhabitants away from agriculture, while at the same time contributing to the settlement of people from other parts of the country. This mix of populations has not prevented the emergence of associations which, as a result of continued and persistent work, have made an important contribution to good socio-cultural integration.

Heritage
Mother Church

Dedicated to St Gabriel, it belonged to the Order of Christ. It underwent a major renovation in the 17th century. It has a sculpture of St Gabriel, a regular work from the Manueline period.
